Google just announced its plan to phase out Inbox by Gmail by the end of March 2019 to focus solely on Gmail. After its initial invitation-only release in 2014, Inbox by Gmail has been a testing ground for new email functions.

Several of these ideas were often refined on Inbox, then applied to the Gmail client. Although Inbox had generated a loyal fan-base, the majority of Gmail users still prefer the traditional Gmail client.

What is Inbox by Gmail?

Inbox for Gmail is a productivity-focused approach to the existing Gmail platform. It touted a minimalistic interface and a few unique features.

Some of the more successful features from Inbox–like Smart Reply, Snooze and Nudges–were integrated into the new Gmail client as of April 2018.

So what does this mean for Shift users?

Thankfully, the transition process only involves a few clicks for Shift customers. To switch to the regular Gmail interface, simply right-click the Inbox account, and click on 'Change to Gmail.'

In addition, all other G Suite services like Drive, Docs, and Contacts will not be affected by this change.

Also, here is a quick cheat sheet to help you get used to the Gmail lingo.
